There are two proposals that were submitted in the Collections Management track for the May, 2016 AAM meeting that I wish to bring to your attention. We need your help in crafting the sessions and hope that the C2CC community will go to the AAM site, review the proposals, and post their comments.

If you haven’t logged into the AAM site before, it is easy. Set up a profile and create a username and password and you’re well on your way to reviewing and leaving comments on session proposals. You do not have to be a member of AAM to do this.

The first proposal is
Power to Preserve: Creating a Collection Care Culture, Proposal ID 1960

In this proposal, my colleagues have incorporated the meeting theme ‘Power, Influence, and Responsibility’ and considered collection care practices that use influence to establish clear, shared goals. The panelists have found that this to be the most effective means to ensure stewardship responsibility throughout an institution.

Briefly, panelists involved in managing collection care will share their successes and especially their learning moments to engage the audience. Together they will explore how to influence the ‘big picture’ and achieve the goal of institution- and society-wide engagement in preservation.

The second proposal is
