Mystery porcelain object

      Found this item in our museum collection and have no clue what it is. Any ideas? About 12″ across, porcelain, decoration is on the concave side, plain convex side.

      My first guess would be a soap dish? 12 inches is rather large for a soap dish though

      Thanks for the comment, Evelyn. Some colleagues figured it out. It is a splash lid or strainer lid for a indoor slop pail. You pour the waste water in and it funnels in into the pail.
